Warum kommen eigentlich schwarz-weiß-Whippets fast ausschießlich in Rennlinien vor?
Besonders Rene ist ein Fan von diesen Hunden und wir wundern uns ein wenig!
Das sind doch schöne Hunde, oder?!

Why do BW-Whippets mostly occur in runnings and not in shows? Why? My boyfriend loves them! Are they getting grey, when they grew old? This question is important for me because i’d like to know if they are getting old, visiably!?
Never the less congratulations to your new website!

Hi Dorit….I understood Your geman questions as well, but waited a bit for others who might answer them……
I think that the main reason is that black is a difficult color for breeding. First of all, blacks have less bones, plus the color itself shows much more less bones, so You have to base on very strong boned dogs by breeding blacks. You have to avoid breeding black to black, because You will loose bones for sure.
I think that both Willow and her recent b&w pups have lovely bone structures, wish all „coloured“ dogs had the same!:D
Black color makes a strong silhouette too, so only the best shaped blacks are looking really good. It is not easy to cheat by stacking the dog, or by any handler tricks.
Yes, they are greying like other whippets, and it is visible, a bit more, than by other whippets. But the volume on graying depends on bloodlines. There are some that are looking grey at the age of 3, and there are some that later. Willow will be 7 next July, and I think she is OK. Has grey hair (on her head, and front), but she is still mainly black.
And there are some „color racist“ judges who make the work difficult. We all now that good whippets have no color, but there are some who think that a show dog just can’t be black. 😀
